Ode to the Lodge on the Lake
by Barbara

earlypic.jpg

There is an old lodge that sits on a lake,
it's been there over 80 years.
It's big and red and has 27 rooms,
reservations are really a must.

The wood floors are polished, creaky yet worn,
the old stone fireplace is cozy.
The Lodge dogs snooze in the afternoon sun.
This place is for families, for good times and fun.

There's rowboats and swimming
and sandcastles too,
there's so many things for the children to do.
Some grown-ups join in, while others relax,
everyone's happy, that's why they come back.

So before you come up,
leave your worries at home,
leave your stress and your tensions as well.
Just come and make memories,
take them back with you,
then you'll have great stories to tell.

"Up North"
Submitted by Christine Rollins

There's a lot of talk about "Up North".  It's the place everyone wants to go to escape the pressures and frantic pace of life.  But where is "Up North" ?  For it is not so much a location as a state of mind.

So how do you know when you've arrived "Up North" ?   When you feel the cares of the world slip away. When you begin to breathe a little easier because the air seems purer.   When you notice the sky is blue and the pines are taller and the people smile a lot more.

It's then that you know you're "Up North".
